Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO) or Charitable Company

If you want to be a charity AND want to be incorporated, you need to set up an incorporated charity.

There are two different ways of doing this: you can set up a Charitable Company or a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).

Either of these structures will allow you to apply for grants that are only available to charities, and to limit the liability of your members or trustees.

Because you have an open membership, you should choose the Association model if you decide to be a CIO.
