Free table tennis equipment for groups

Over the past three summers Table Tennis England, Brighton & Hove Council and Brighton Table Tennis Club have organised Ping! – placing loads of tables around the city for anyone to play on – all for free! Last year over 42,000 people played on the tables.

Ping! is back this year and will be bigger than ever. Table Tennis England is offering organisations based in Brighton and Hove up two Instant Ping Pong Packs to get people playing table tennis.

Each pack contains 7 bats, 7 balls and a roll net that allows you to set up on almost any table. With the game ideas booklet that comes with it, you can be set up and playing in seconds.

To see how flexible the pack is, watch this YouTube video! http://bit.ly/1wTlC4Y

What’s the catch?

All they ask is that the packs get used at least once a week for 30 minutes, and that you are willing to provide some feedback on how things are going

Link into the bigger scene

There will be loads of table tennis events to get involved with this year including Ping! and Brighton & Hove Council’s Take Part festival of Sport & Physical Activity http://bit.ly/1AVjlkI

Hurry!

The number of packs available is limited, so first come first served. This is a great chance to get your organisation active so don’t miss out!

Free online publicity for community events and groups

My Brighton and Hove, the largest local history and community website which has been established since 2000, have a new section, Community Matters, which will promote community groups and community events.

They would like to give community groups who would otherwise not have the facility to promote themselves online, the chance to reach thousands of local website visitors.

My Brighton and Hove are a ‘not for profit’ group and so their constitution precludes them from promoting any event or group which involves any commercial gain.

If you would like to find out how you can raise the profile of your community group or promote your fundraising event please contact Jennifer Drury, My Brighton and Hove Website Editor

Room for hire: Circus Street – free for community groups & not-for-profits

The room is free to hire to charities and non-profit groups. Depending on length of hire, they may need to make a small charge for electricity/heating, and a key deposit may be required.

The room is available from 8am-8pm on an hourly/short-term basis for activities such as youth clubs, meetings, workshops, rehearsals etc for a maximum of 30 people.

They may be able to accommodate other times/uses/numbers on request, and we also use the main section of the market for bigger events, so please let me know if this is of interest.

Facilities: there are several tables, chairs and benches, to seat up to c.20 people.

There is a ‘Portaloo’ style disabled WC and a kitchen with basic equipment for making hot drinks etc. The room and WC are both wheelchair accessible but unfortunately the kitchen is not.

Please be aware that the ‘room’ is a temporary marquee-type structure within the market, and as such is not centrally heated or insulated. They have some small fan heaters available, but if the weather is very cold the room may be unsuitable for use, depending on your type of activity.
