- Do you have an idea for a healthy project or activity?
- Would you like help to develop your group if you are just starting out?
The Community Health Fund aims to support and fund small community groups (annual income below £35,000) based in Brighton or Hove, addressing a particular health issue or wanting to run a health related activity. We are keen to reach groups who are just getting started and those working in under-represented communities. It can provide your group with:
- one to one support (before and after your application) to help set up a group, develop your grant application and fulfill the requirements of the fund
- a grant (between £500 to £1,500) to your group to help achieve your project or activity
- the chance to meet similar groups to share skills, knowledge and solutions to any problems your group might face.
The next deadline is 5pm on Friday 11th July 2014.
There is an Information Session for groups looking to apply on Wednesday 4th June, 6-8pm at Friends Meeting House, Ship Street.

Gants of up to £15,000 for projects to support unemployed people to develop skills
The ESF Community Grants Fund Round Two is now open for applications from charities and not for profit groups in Brighton and Sussex. Grants of up to £15,000 are available for projects that support unemployed people to develop skills and progress towards employment. Part of the grant can also be used to capacity build organisations (training for staff etc). You must be a constituted group (no individuals can apply) and have an income of less than £300,000 in the last financial year. Read more ›
Our Big Gig funding available
Our Big Gig has grants available for community groups to run open access community music events.
Groups can apply for up to £400 towards the cost of their event.
Events must take place between 11th and 13th July and be free to attend.

Community Trees Fund deadline reminder
Community groups and schools can apply for £100-£700 from the Tree Council to plant apple and pear trees, through the Orchard Windfalls Fund.
The trees must be planted on publicly accessible land (usually owned by a local authority, school or charity).
The actual planting must take place during National Tree Week (29th November – 7th December 2014) and must involve children and young people aged under 16.
Eligible costs include the cost of the trees and any reasonable cost of necessary supports and aids: stakes, ties, guards, fertiliser, mulch and soil amelioration (where conditions make this appropriate).
Application deadline is 31st March 2014.

Free funding clinic for sports groups
Brighton & Hove Council Sports Development Team. Sported, and Active Sussex are hosting a free sports funding clinic on Tuesday 18th March 2014 at St Richards Church and Community Centre in Hove.
The event will run from 6.30pm – 9.00pm, suitable for all community & voluntary organisations who provide sport or physical activity. They are particularly keen to welcome groups who provide sports activities for children and young people in the city
The funding clinic gives you an opportunity to meet funders and find out about the type of work and projects they are able to fund.

Free help for BME groups on Lottery Heritage funding bids
FREE advice and support is available for BME groups in Brighton and Hove and East/West Sussex to help develop successful heritage lottery funding bids.
To register for support, you need to go to the next meeting of the BME heritage network, on Wednesday 12th February.

B&H Council Annual Grants to Smaller Organisations: Deadlines announced
Brighton and Hove City Council is now inviting applications to the Annual Grants Programme 2014-15. This year’s deadlines are: 14 March, 4th July, 3rd October.
Please also note that applicants requesting funding for projects and events taking place before September 2014 should apply by 14 March deadline to ensure they have grant approval in time to support them.
