Safety Net is a charity that provides training and support for community groups around safeguarding children.
They run safeguarding training for community groups, and offer support with developing safeguarding policies. You can arrange a one-to-one session to write a safeguarding policy. This costs £30 for small groups.
They offer a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) application service.
They run a free monthly DBS advice surgery for groups that are members of Community Works, on the first Thursday of every month. You need to book a half-hour slot in advance. If you are using Safety Net for your DBS applications, you can also bring forms and ID documents for checking at the surgery.
They can help organisations use the Simple Quality Protects tool to assess the quality of their work and services.
Notes:
Act as an umbrella organisation for DBS checking. To use them you need to become a member. They have sample policies specifically aimed at groups working with children which they are happy to share with member groups.
