Aims of Fund
To support vulnerable people who are experiencing, or are at risk of, poverty during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Who can apply
Any organisation who can quickly provide support over this winter to vulnerable people in Brighton & Hove.
You must be able to collect information about what the funding will go towards, for example:
- how many households have children
- how many households do not have children
- what you will spend the funding on
How much and what can you apply for
Up to £5,000 for projects that support people experiencing, or at risk of, poverty during the Covid-19 pandemic. You must be able to have spent the money by 31st March 2021.
The funding can be used for things like:
- food
- help with cooking
- heating, including oil and portable gas cylinders
- clothes and bedding
- other essentials that are related to food, heating, lighting, cooking, water and toiletries
The grant is not for getting general advice about debt, finances, or for housing costs.
The grant must be used for project running costs, or to buy small capital items or goods. Up to 8% can be spent on management costs for running the project.
How to apply
Email the Council’s Community, Equalities and Third Sector team to request an application form at communitiesteam@brighton-hove.gov.uk Write “Application for winter support funding” as the title of the email and they aim to send you an application form within one working day.
In the application, you will need to tell them:
- what you want to do with the funding
- why you want funding
- who will benefit from the support
- how your organisation will link with other local organisations
- how you will know that the support has been successful
Deadlines for application
Deadlines are expected to be announced later in the winter.
